Location: Dublin, Ireland or UK (Remote with Travel)
The Role
My client seeks a Senior Planning Manager to join its Irish and UK team. This role involves overseeing planning for projects in Ireland and the UK, and engaging with stakeholders such as local landowners, ESBN, Eirgrid, ABP, and planning authorities. The Senior Planning Manager will evaluate development opportunities, collaborate with the finance team to assess project viability, work with the procurement team to prepare projects for construction, and ensure a seamless transition to the construction manager.
Requirements\Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in preparing planning applications for renewable energy projects.
- Strong business acumen and skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation.
- Ability to work in complex, changing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in planning permission and substation design is a plus.
- Familiarity with solar PV and construction terms is helpful.
- Enthusiasm for advancing planning applications for solar farms and energy storage facilities in Ireland and the UK.
- Strong process orientation and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project is essential.
Responsibilities
- Support planning and permitting for utility-scale solar projects from start to finish.
- Contribute to project budgets, risk management, health and safety, and quality assurance.
- Review land and planning issues for potential sites.
- Ensure timely submission of planning applications, appeals, and requests for information.
- Manage preliminary site layout designs.
- Use project management tools like Monday.com to track opportunities.
- Collaborate with law firms on planning applications as needed.
- Understand substation configurations to inform decision-making for stakeholders.
