Summary

• Responsible for supporting the general day-to-day patent matters of the Company,

providing both independent and collaborative work, in compliance with the Corporate policy.

• Provide patent services and advice, dealing with all legal matters relating to patents, freedom to operate, and patentability studies, in view of protecting the Group’s interests and ensuring compliance with applicable patent laws worldwide.


Responsibilities

• Draft and analyse opinions of patent counsel including freedom-to-operate, validity/invalidity, noninfringement/infringement, and patentability; conduct to this end searches to ensure that an invention has not been previously represented in the public domain and/or is patentable.

• Prepare, review, file, and prosecute patent applications liaising with other outside patent counsels as necessary.

• Identify patent infringement risks and propose solutions.

• Provide reliable and practical legal advice on patent copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property law matters with respect to risk management and compliance issues in all aspects of the business, including advising R&D on possible white space and development possibilities.

• Coordinate ongoing patent disputes and litigation matters liaising with outside counsel as necessary.

• Contribute to ensure that the Group complies with all relevant patent legislation.

• Assist in the prosecution, enforcement and licensing of the Group patent portfolio.

• Educate internally on patents, the patent process, and protecting IP.


Requirements

• Sound scientific and technical knowledge in chemistry (preferably), and/or organic chemistry, and/or biochemistry, and/or chemical engineering.

• Experience as a patent counsel.

• Ability to understand and deal with a variety of scientific and technical fields.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

• Strong team player.

•Superior organisation skills and high attention to detail.

•Ability to fulfill a heavy workload by being self-sufficient without any personal assistance.

•Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
