The client
A prominent provider of recycling and waste processing equipment throughout North America. They deliver cutting-edge machinery for material recovery facilities (MRFs) and specialise in optimising the sorting and processing of a diverse range of recyclables, including paper, plastics, glass, metals, and organics.
Location: Remote
The Role
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the complete installation, service, and maintenance of all-optical sorting machinery sold by the company. Your role will involve troubleshooting, repairing, and resolving issues related to the equipment. Installations and service work may be electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical in nature. You will also maintain close communication with customers, offering support during installations, training, and servicing of machines. Performing routine preventive maintenance inspections and training customers on the safe operation and preventive care of the equipment will also be key responsibilities.
This role requires travel for 90% of the jobs, with 60% of that travel within your designated home territory. Some projects may involve deployment to Canada, Mexico, and occasionally other Central American locations.
Requirements\Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic systems and schematics.
- Experience servicing optical sorters is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic diagrams, connection drawings, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with 480-volt electrical systems.
- Familiarity with large machinery, along with proven troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues on-site.
- Effective verbal communication skills in English. Additional languages such as Spanish, French, Dutch, German, or Polish are a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a customer-focused approach, as you will be a key representative of our company.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours and to stay overnight on location when necessary.
