As a part of the High Purity Quartz Health & Safety Team the Specialist Health & Safety role will empower you to be the primary change agent responsible for the development and implementation of safety practices and principles associated with the creation of HS ownership culture.


Your Impact in This Role


As a Specialist Health & Safety your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Safe & Healthy Workplace - Perform regular inspections, critical process confirmations and safety walks/observations to ensure health & safety compliance as well as report on findings and propose and coordinate mitigation actions in collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment - Lead the implementation of the Critical Controls program for the business by driving Process
  • Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies for all critical processes by applying correct analysis methodology.
  • Legal Requirements - Ensure HS compliance according to the federal and state requirements and support in incident investigations & reporting under OSHA & MSHA.
  • Training - Support supervisors in delivering all mandatory safety trainings under OSHA and MSHA and train site leadership on how to supervise high risk activities.
  • Reporting & KPI’s - Train and verify the correct reporting of TIFs, CPCs, action closure on time.
  • Coaching & Influencing - Translate health & safety legislation into simple and practical way of working as and ensure implementation by Operational Site Leadership. Verify that the health & safety training programs are correctly rolled out in their area and verify effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement - Identify the need for business support systems, reporting improvement opportunities and training needs as well as opportunities for improvements in processes and installations.
  • Industrial Hygiene sampling (Dust, Noise, Fumes & welding.)


What You Bring to the Table

  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly MSHA / OSHA standards, is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Health, or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years of Health & Safety experience is preferred.
  • Background in the Chemical, Mining, Cement, or Petrochemical industries is preferred.
  • Proficient in English. Other languages are an asset.
  • Fluency in the local language and written and spoken English.
