Description
We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to design and build a scalable data warehouse from our transactional databases, leveraging PostgreSQL and AWS technologies. Knowledge of agronomics in row crops, particularly corn and soybeans, is a bonus for this role, as it will help tailor data solutions to support agricultural insights.

The client
Our client are a leading precision agriculture startup with an office in Indianapolis, whom provide growers agronomic insights gathered from remote sensing technologies.
Location: Remote, within 60 Miles of Indianapolis for occasional travel
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement a robust data warehouse using PostgreSQL.
- Integrate transactional databases into the warehouse while ensuring data quality and consistency
- Utilize AWS services such as Redshift, Kinesis Firehose, and S3 for data storage and analytics.
- Develop streaming data pipelines for real-time processing.
- Optimize database schemas and queries for scalability and efficiency.
- Monitor ETL processes to handle large-scale data ingestion seamlessly.
- Collaborate with teams to incorporate row crop agronomic knowledge (corn and soybeans) into data models for enhanced decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.
- Document technical specifications for ETL pipelines, database architecture, and AWS configurations.
Key Requirements
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including database management and query optimization.
- Proficiency in SQL programming.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services like Redshift, Kinesis Firehose, S3, or Glue.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and processes.
- Knowledge of agronomics in row crops (corn and soybeans) is a bonus.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python or shell scripting.
Base Salary: $140,000-160,000
