Description

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to design and build a scalable data warehouse from our transactional databases, leveraging PostgreSQL and AWS technologies. Knowledge of agronomics in row crops, particularly corn and soybeans, is a bonus for this role, as it will help tailor data solutions to support agricultural insights.

The client

Our client are a leading precision agriculture startup with an office in Indianapolis, whom provide growers agronomic insights gathered from remote sensing technologies.


Location: Remote, within 60 Miles of Indianapolis for occasional travel


Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement a robust data warehouse using PostgreSQL.
  • Integrate transactional databases into the warehouse while ensuring data quality and consistency
  • Utilize AWS services such as Redshift, Kinesis Firehose, and S3 for data storage and analytics.
  • Develop streaming data pipelines for real-time processing.
  • Optimize database schemas and queries for scalability and efficiency.
  • Monitor ETL processes to handle large-scale data ingestion seamlessly.
  • Collaborate with teams to incorporate row crop agronomic knowledge (corn and soybeans) into data models for enhanced decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.
  • Document technical specifications for ETL pipelines, database architecture, and AWS configurations.


Key Requirements

  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including database management and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services like Redshift, Kinesis Firehose, S3, or Glue.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of agronomics in row crops (corn and soybeans) is a bonus.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or shell scripting.


Base Salary: $140,000-160,000
