Mackinnon Bruce is working in partnership with a leading food production business. We are working with a global leader in its category to attract talent for future roles in late 2015 early 2016. I am particularly interested in speaking with operations directors with significant experience in the European food market.

Our client is one of the leading manufacturers of branded products in the US serving the majority of leading retailers, with instantly recognisable products and a track record of innovation and success. Given a recent restructure within the business they now require an ambitious and results driven Operations Manager to lead their recent entry into the European market.

This role is focused on developing an integrated Operations and Engineering function with a remit to plan, manage and deploy resources to optimum advantage to ensure customer and company requirements are met, whilst ensuring costs are kept under control or reduced and a plan of continuous improvement is operated. This plan should relate to both production and engineering targets and standards of quality / efficiency and safety as required by European law.

You will liaise with site directors and plant managers in ensuring there is a synergy of strategic identification across all sites. Furthermore you will actively promote Company Policy at all times, continuously challenge existing manufacturing / engineering practices to maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy, company plan, departmental plan, company rules and health and safety legislation.

The ideal candidate will be a rounded multi-skilled Operations Manager with an appropriate Engineering qualification. It is essential that you have experience of the food and drink sector, ideally with knowledge of household named food products.

With a demonstrable track record of strong management and leadership principles. A commercially orientated individual, with excellent interpersonal skills and experience of successfully delivering change management programmes to improve efficiencies, (delivered within a highly unionised environment) are essential and as such perquisite.

Experience gained within organisations which are highly automated and process driven is also essential for success. Given the nature of this role it could potentially suit candidates with an engineering background before moving into operations.
